I know there are plenty of you out there that remember when the actual Atari 2600 first hit the market. I am additionally sure that people who are old enough can remember the pong game which arrived on the scene before the Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 was something that almost every single kid asked for, for Christmas in 1977 and most homes had one of these devices by 1980. Now folks can re-live their past along with the Atari Paddle Controller with 13 TV games, which is something that I actually bought.
There had been some games that you could get for your Atari which you could only play if you had the particular paddles for that console. Most folks remember the joysticks that came with the Atari, but the paddles were something that you had to purchase separately when the device first came out. Then afterward the paddles started being offered to the men and women who bought the Atari 2600 along with the game, breakout. And these paddle games were something that most people liked playing even more than the original pack man game.
Atari made a decision to develop a plug and play paddle system, and the reason I believe they did this is because the paddle games were so popular. Pretty much every single TV that has been released in the last 10 years has RCA input jacks, and those jacks are what you plug the game into. This will not work on every TV as almost all of the older TV’s do not have these inputs and this would be the only way you are able to hook this up to your television. Needless to say there are not many folks that have a TV that’s over 10 years old so this won’t be a concern for many folks.
This gaming system is included with, Video Olympics, Pong, Circus Atari and Street racer along with plenty of various other games. For individuals who do remember the Atari 2600 you already know that one of the most popular games was Kaboom but it is not incorporated in this system. While this may be a massive oversight on Atari’s part, the other games that they did include in this system are really great games as well. Obviously you’ll realize that this new release of the Atari games isn’t going to cost anywhere near the $200 the Atari 2600 first sold for.
You can in fact get this product for only $4.92 if you end up ordering this product from Amazon. You’ll actually be saving over five dollars simply by ordering this from Amazon instead of paying retail for this product. For individuals who remember exactly how much you used to love playing the paddle games from the Atari, this is actually a good way to start playing them again. Or if you have a family member or friends who lived through the 80′s you may find that this may be a great gift idea for them.
