Best Golf Courses In San Jose

April 22, 2011 by Mercedes Miles · Leave a Comment

Awesome golf courses in San Jose is in the eye of the beholder. What some golfers consider good, another golfer may not even take into consideration. There are a few key items to think about when ranking a course against other courses.

The uniqueness of a course is a plus. Holes should require some use of strategy, otherwise it becomes boring. A long, straight hole is not necessarily challenging. Each hole should work a different part of golfing. One may have a difficult pin placement, while another could sport an island green. Every hole doesn’t need to be impossible, that would discourage golfers from even trying.

The natural terrain should try to be saved when building a course. A good course should minimize deforestation and keep it well maintained from the first to the last hole. Good documentation of the course history along the path is also a positive thing that creates interest in the course and the immediate area.

World rankings can be considered, but are the rankings based upon the average golfer, or only upon the elite professional golfers and their sponsors. Along with this is prestige. If only professional golfers are allowed to play on a specific course, it doesn’t automatically make it better than any others. However, these two points generally mean it does cost more to play on them.

Scenery and location of courses is a huge plus. When the natural beauty is played up by having a hole along a coastal cliff, it is awe inspiring. Snow tipped mountains in the distance can also elicit strong emotions from the golfers that would urge them to return time and again.

A lower ranking could be given for too many houses along the course. Another downer for many golfers are too many tricky holes; it almost feels like mini-golf on a larger scale. Golfers like to be able to use some skill on a course. One good signature hole that is tricky is plenty. Too much water on a course can also be another bad mark for some golfers.

The service and clubhouse are also a big indicator of a good course. Golf is never really cheap to play, so golfers expect decent service from the staff. Nothing is more disappointing that a dilapidated clubhouse, or caddies that have no idea about the layout of the course.

Finding awesome golf courses in San Jose is up to each golfer. Each golfer bases their ranking of a course based on different criteria. Where a great clubhouse is necessary to some people, others only want a nice course with good greens. However they are ranked, golfers love to play on a good course.

Theo Walcott Celebrates Hat-Trick For England

Theo Walcott Celebrates Hat-Trick For England

Theo Walcott hit his first, second and third international goals as England whipped bogey team Croatia 4-1 in there second World Cup qualifying tie in Zagreb. The 19-year-old Arsenal speedster got the nod to start ahead of the experienced David Beckham and he drilled England ahead, just before Robert Kovac was sent off for an elbow on Joe Cole – that left the Chelsea player concussed.

Walcott then grabbed a near identical second, before the on-form Wayne Rooney slotted in a brilliant third. for the Three Lions. Mario Mandzukic notched a consolation for Croatia, before Walcott collected Rooney’s pass and rolled in his hat-trick.

It was a stunning performance and more than coach Fabio Capello can have dreamed for. The result puts England firmly in control of Group Six after two wins in four days, but Capello will be even more delighted by the manner io which his team played using amore familiar 4-4-2 formation.

This was Croatia first competitive home defeat and was sweet revenge for England, beating the team that ended their hopes of reaching Euro 2008. This England display was totally different from the one’s we have been used to witnessing under Ex-England manager with the team looking more like a finely tuned unit rather than a bunch talented player just thrown together.

Amir Khan Knocked Out In One Round

Amir Khan Knocked Out In One Round

Amir Khan was knocked out inside the first minute of his WBO intercontinental lightweight title defence by Colombia’s Breidis Prescott. The Bolton boxer was put down for the first time after just 30 seconds when hit by two lefts in quick succession. Khan was clearly in trouble as his legs turned to jelly in such a way that it was reminiscent Bruce Grobbelaar’s spagetti legs trick for Liverpool against AS Roma.

Khan, 21, managed to regain his feet but was clearly in trouble and the fight was as good as over. He carried on after an eight count but Prescott unleashed another barrage of quick shots and Khan hit the deck once more before being counted out after 54 seconds.

It was a first defeat for Khan, who won an Olympic silver medal at the 2004 Olympics, in the 19th fight of his professional career. Before the fight Khan said he had been working on his much-criticised defence with new trainer Jorge Rubio, but Prescott rocked the Bolton fighter within seconds of the start. Something Prescott has been predicting all week long. When Khan went down for a second time the referee called the fight off. A stiff jab snapped Khan’s head back and he was soon caught by a crisp left hook by the hard hitting Colombian.

There are no longer question marks over Khan’s chin and his ability to take a punch – it is clear he cannot. So, will Khan ever go on to win a world title?….possiblely not, you can train a fight to develope his defence but your can’t build him a new chin. This is the fourth time in a relatively short career that Khan has tasted the floor. Previously, he had got away with it against smaller, lighter pucnhing boxers – but this time he was well and truely exposed.

Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe

Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe

Just in the process of arranging my trip to America to watch the boxing – both the Calzaghe v Jones Jr and the Hatton v Mallinaggi fight. It’s worked out pretty well for me that Super Joe had his little hand injury. It now means i have the chance to take in both fights as they are only two weeks apart. Looking at flying to New York on the 6th of November – hopefully witnessing Calzaghe giving another has been American a thumbing then working my way across to Vegas to see The Hitman take on the idiot that had to have his dread lock cut out during his last fight because they were getting in his eye – haha..in the words of Del Boy “What a 42 carat plonker you really are”.
